Dying Media

I have heard that the books are a dying medium. So is the radio, newspapers, analog photography, etc. Some of them are already hanging on by a thread, like the gramophone or the videotape. Everything seems to be shifting to digital. But is that such a bad thing?
I believe that as long as we remember the past media and appreciate them, there is nothing wrong with making life easier through the new ones.
