The
modernity movement was all about the exploration of the ‘self’ and one’s
expression through the process of creative construction of a subjectively
perceived reality. Modernity rejected the ideology of realism and presented
life as a distorted caricature or parody. It also debated the advantageous and
harmful impact of technology on humans and their means of creative expression.
Nowadays,
with the vast means of communication and self-expression, modernity is being
rediscovered. In a world where most of media outlets are being digitalized and
it is easy to share messages with mass audiences all over the world with little
effort in almost no time, individuals are given a great opportunity to
creatively express themselves, get their opinions and interpretations heard and
seen. With the ability to manipulate reality through animation, video editing
and programs like Photoshop it is easier to create a distorted reality, an
analysis of the truths without the boundaries of realism. The digital forms of
expression also constantly question their own impact on humans, the advantages
of a world that through its connectedness is becoming a global village.
